ICLEI has, with the collaboration of its key partners, developed a Roadmap for Local and Subnational Governments following COP 14 to mobilize the local and subnational constituency’s participation in the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework process. The implementation of this Roadmap is currently underway and has resulted in a series of advocacy interventions such as Post-2020 consultation events, regular monthly webinars, and the development of a draft position statement which has been circulated to partners for comments and inputs.

There are various ways for local and subnational governments, their networks, and their partners to participate in the Roadmap to COP 15.

ICLEI and key partners represent the voice of local and subnational governments in the implementation of multilateral environmental agreements.

ICLEI works as a focal point, on behalf of the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments, a joint global policy advocacy initiative of the major international networks of local and subnational governments, to the three United Nations Rio Conventions: UNCBD, UNCCD, and the UNFCCC.
